The Government of India has issued a travel advisory on Wednesday, urging Indian citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran in light of the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) advised Indian nationals residing in Iran to remain vigilant and stay in regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.
“We are closely monitoring the recent escalation in the security situation in the region,” the MEA said in an official statement.
This advisory follows Iran’s firing of approximately 200 missiles into Israel, raising concerns of a broader conflict in the Middle East. The ongoing hostilities have prompted fears of a full-scale war, making the region highly volatile for travel.
Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Israel had also issued a similar advisory to Indian citizens, urging them to avoid unnecessary travel within Israel.
“In light of the current situation, all Indian nationals are advised to stay vigilant and follow the safety protocols issued by local authorities. We recommend caution, avoiding non-essential travel within the country, and staying near safety shelters,” stated the Indian Embassy in Israel.
The embassy also provided helpline numbers for Indian citizens living in the conflict zone to ensure their safety during this critical period. Both embassies remain in close contact with local authorities to safeguard Indian nationals.
